In this tutorial, you will learn how to Fold the Origami water lily. This version of the fold is also known as the Origami Iris. It’s known for its versatility and is used in garlands, decorations, and bouquets.
After mastering the origami lily, you can view our other tutorials on folding the Origami Vase and Origami Flower Stem to take your models even further.
Prerequisite:
Frog Base folded from Origami paper.
Step 1.

Start with a frog base with the open end facing away from us.

Then take the top layer of the triangle flaps and fold upwards.
Step 2.

You will need to repeat Step 1 and fold the top flap upwards for the remaining three faces. To do this, flip/fold the left side until you have a flap facing you. Then repeat Step 1.

NOTE: Be careful for the sides without a face, just continue to flip the paper model until you see a face with a flap.
Step 3.

Take note of the Kite shape that we have created, ensuring the top point aligns with the bottom point. You need to fold the kite edges in half.

Start by taking the right side of the single layer of the kite and fold to the center crease.

Repeat on the Left side.
Now repeat Step 3 for the remaining 3 faces.

This is the end result.
Step 4.

Grab the top corner of the two opposite open ends and pull them apart.

Repeat for the opposite sides. These will be the petals of the lily flower.

Step 5.

Take a pen or pencil and curl each side of the petals to make it curly.

This is the end result.

You can take your Origami Lily Flower further by pairing it with an Origami Stem and Vase.
