The Waterbomb base is a fundamental starting point and is known for its simplicity and elegance. It serves as the cornerstone for creating a wide range of origami designs, from animals to complex geometric shapes and of course, the Origami Waterbomb!
Step 1
Start with a square sheet of origami paper and rotate it 45 degrees in any direction.
Step 2
Valley fold the model in half from the bottom edge to top, creating a horizontal crease.
Step 3
Unfold.
Step 4
Rotate the model so that the horizontal crease is now vertical.
Then valley fold it in half from bottom to top, creating a new horizontal crease.
Step 5
Unfold.
Step 6
Rotate the square so that the same creases now face you in the shape of an “X”.
Step 7
Fold the model in half from the top edge to bottom, creating a horizontal crease.
Step 8
Rotate the paper so that the horizontal crease is now vertical.
Step 9
Flip the paper over so that all the valley folds are now mountain folds.
Step 10
Fold the model in half from bottom to top, creating a new horizontal crease.
Step 11
Flip the paper over again.
Step 12
Push down into the center, it will make the edges of the paper pop up.
Step 13
Bring the two horizontal mountain folds together and flatten the paper.
